True Reformation

“Toto, we aren’t in Kansas anymore.” Dorothy made this familiar statement from the famous film, The Wizard of Oz and it truly represents thoughts and feelings I have regarding the world we live in. Placing International calls wasn’t introduced until 1960. In 50 years we have gone from making an expensive international call by stationary phones to texting our friends in Cambodia on a wireless device…how amazing the speed of technology. We are an evolving society that is ever changing and reforming itself. So, as Christians, I find when are believing God to bring a reformation…what are we really seeking? Our gen-Xers and millenniums are already reforming themselves, regularly, through re-jobbing, sexual curiosity, and second and third marriages. With this in mind, the reformation that we are all believing for has to be more than a “wave” or a “feeling” but it must be a sustainable, active, presence of God carried in the hearts of those called by Him and to Him. It is the power of God that can break down the walls and the love of God that conquers all. It is my opinion that we must stop trying to make technology our change agents and really make people the change agents to the world.

We have to be a people who know the sustainable power and presence of God. It will be this that causes a long lasting reformation to stick to the corridors of our country and truly revolutionize our decisions. I have found that people get bored easily and too much of the same thing is stifling and even suffocating to them. Though there is nothing wrong with change or adding new and better technologies into our message, it is absurd to develop a people who don’t ever relate to Jesus outside of technology or some cutting edge device. A true reformation is genuinely reshaping the framework of the way people think and bringing awareness to a greater dimension of living (purpose). So let’s use all the technology we can to spread the Gospel but let’s not replace the gospel with technology.
